Water butts are handy tools that can be used in many different ways. It’s essentially a container that you fill with fresh water and seal off from the elements. You can use a water butt for everything from keeping fruit and vegetables fresh, to storing rainwater for your garden. By using water butts, residents can collect rainwater to use in gardens, wash cars and sidewalks, or even drink directly from the tank.

Here are some tips on how to build your own water butt:

1.Choose a suitable site for your water butt. The site should be level and well-drained, with enough room inside the container for the plumbing and storage area.

2.Mark the outline of the water butt on your ground with stakes or rocks before excavation begins. Use a trowel or shovel to create an even surface around the perimeter of the hole.

3.Install drainage pipes from your downspout directly into the hole you've dug, then connect them to the main sewage line nearby with strapping tape or connectors (if necessary).

4.Build your storage area by spreading concrete or gravel over a layer of reinforcing mesh (available at hardware stores). Place a PVC pipe on top of this material, then pour a layer of cement overtop. Pour another layer of gravel on top, then attach securing rods through all layers so that your water butt is stable when finished.

In Conclusion, If you're interested in improving the quality of your water, or simply want to save some money on your water bill, then you should consider building your own water butt.
